Patrick Lynch, president of the New York City Police Benevolent Association, said police officers are “ending up in too many dangerous situations with unstable people. … New York’s political class chose to gut our mental health system,” Lynch told The City. “They chose to open a revolving door for dangerous repeat offenders. Now that we’re in the middle of a crisis, those failures are magnified.”
LISTEN – Pat Lynch talks to Q104.3’s Shelli Sonstein about the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for priority testing for police officers and the need for the city’s elected leaders to start preparing now for the next crisis: “This time, the promise we will not forget has to be real.”
The media covers the PBA’s salute to the hospital staff at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where Pat Lynch spoke about the courage and compassion that the nurses, doctors and technicians have always shown police officers. Stories appeared on NBC 4 News, News 12 Long Island, PIX 11 News, CBS 2 News, ABC 7 News and Inside Edition. See full PBA-recorded video of the event and press conference.
